COVID-19 Update

Here are some new guidelines that the BOE adopted at our meeting on Jan. 24th.

Goodland Public Schools Covid-19 Addendum/Update

This document is to provide updated guidance to our current plans.  We still have our Tier model in place and available for us should the district need to utilize.  However, here are some current recommendations we will be following:

  1. USD 352 adopts the implementation of the 5 and 5 rule that the Sherman County health department is recommending through KDHE.  If a student or staff member test positive they will be recommended for quarantine for 5 days from the onset of symptoms.  Upon completion of the five-day quarantine, they may return to school in a mask for the next 5 days as long as they are not running a fever and symptoms have improved significantly per CDC guidelines.
  2. USD 352 and the Sherman County Health Department will no longer be conducting contact tracing.  It is recommended that parents take this responsibility upon themselves in decisions regarding whether or not their child comes to schools or remains home.
  3. USD 352 still highly recommends that if a student has symptoms the parents make a decision to keep them at home and the school will work with the parents to provide educational materials and keep them on track.  This would be no different than keeping a student home due to the flu, etc.
  4. Students who come back on days 6-10 in a mask may participate in school activities as long as they remain in a mask for that activity.
