Friday July 11th was the team qualifier with 264 teams competing from across the nation. Only the top 80 teams would move on to the finals on Sunday morning. The GHS team ended up tying for 25th place with a score of 477/500. After figuring the placing by reverse run, the team ended up 30th place – punching their card to get into the championship round on Sunday Morning. Saturday July 12th was the individual qualifier with 1770 registered competitors from across the nation. The top 400 would move on to the Championship round Sunday afternoon. So just to make it to the top 400 is a feat in itself. Jackson ended up in a tie for 1st place with his first perfect 100/100 score! Carter ended up 130th place with a 98/100, Barrett ended up sealing the deal with 393rd place with a 96/100 and Josh ended up with a 95/100 putting him in 524th place. To say the competition was tough is an understatement. All boys shot excellent with Jackson, Carter and Barrett moving on to the individual finals on Sunday.

Sunday July 13th – The championship rounds!

GHS team arrived at the range focused and ready to compete. The weather was cool and the rocks were flying excellent! The team ended up shooting a 492/500 only dropping 8 rocks in total out of the 500 they shot at. This put them in for a 3 way tie for 3rdplace. After about an hour of waiting for all the scores to be tallied and reverse runs figured GHS ended up 5th place in the Nation! What a tremendous accomplishment by the boys. Barrett Schlosser shot his first perfect 100/100 helping seal the 5th place spot. The rest of the boys Jackson, Carter, Josh and Brody all shot impressive 98/100’s.

Sunday afternoon was the individual championships. The wind had picked up a little and it was hot and very humid. Jackson was up first and ended up with a 95/100. Carter and Barrett were squadded together and shot in between Jackson’s two rounds. Barrett ended up with a 96/100 and Carter ended up with a 94/100. All very impressive scores but not good enough to place in the top 10. Barrett ended up 179th place, Jackson 254th place and Carter 305th place. They all shot very well!

Overall Goodland should be extremely proud of the representation these kids gave our community. They should also be proud of their Team and individual accomplishments. Barrett and Jackson with their first 100 straights, Josh with a personal best of 98/100 and of course the whole team bring home our first National placing with a 5th place trophy! We are proud of all the boys!
