Wrestling Team Captures 2nd Place Finish, Qualifies Five for STATE!

The Goodland High School wrestling team captured second place at the regional wrestling tournament this past weekend in Lakin. The Cowboys finished one point out of first place and qualified five wrestlers for this week's State tournament in Hays. Senior, Austin Avelar placed third at 120 lbs, Sophomore John Peden placed second at 152 lbs., Sophomore Tyler Gastineau at 182 lbs., Senior Laine Herl at 195 lbs., and Senior Riley Oharah at 220 lbs., all captured first place finishes.
The state tournament will be held at Fort Hays State's Gross Coliseum beginning this Thursday, Feb. 23rd with first round matches beginning at 9:00 MST and concluding on Friday the 24th.
